This is a great way to get involved and help PHASA develop bill language, come up with a community mobilization plan and be a part of the legislative process. This is a great way for everybody in Nevada, North and South, to meet monthly and brainstorm ideas and develop strategic planning.

Northern Nevada PHASA Advocacy Group Meeting:

What is an “Advocacy Group?”: All are welcome to join our advocacy meeting. This is a way for PHASA to meet once monthly face-to-face. The intention of this group is to mobilize current/former injection drug users to advocate for their own health care and to operate on more of a grassroots level; however, the group is really open to everybody who wants to advocate for syringe access in Nevada and the implementation of syringe service programs (aka Needle Exchange Program). The focus of these meetings are to develop strategic planning to educate the community through educational forums at organizations, to develop a speakers bureau, to develop skills to testify at the legislature and/or speak to the media regarding injection drug use, to do awareness campaigns, to do outreach in the community…etc.
